MORE MAY 7TH ADVENTURES

For Saturday we had planned to give the new arrivals a bit of time to settle in and get the lay of the land.  We expected to take them out on a little drive around the area.  Of course, that plan was delayed due to our morning of criminal activities, bank robbing, grocery store marauding, and breaking and entering followed by the encounter with the gendarmes.

After recovering from our morning and having a bit of lunch, some of us finally did set off on an excursion, really a trip to find an internet café that Don had heard about that might have wireless.  We drove to the city of Melun where we used Babette and a map to navigate us to the address of the internet café.

Of course, there was no sign of the café.  Don stopped near where the address should be and booted up his computer, but found no sign of a wireless.  Cheryl, Jerry and Geralynn got out of the car and wandered up and down the street, and finally found number 7.  There was a doctor’s office there, but no indication of internet.

As we were leaving town we spotted a big grocery store.  Since I was still looking for a cutting board, coffee mugs and big plastic glasses we decided to stop.  While I was in the store Don and Cheryl walked down to the river, where we had spotted some kind of a community event.  In keeping with our rule of always joining in when we see a crowd like this, we all went to check out what was happening.  There were lots of fancy boats and we saw a kind of jousting event, where two boats approached each other with a guy standing in each boat.  Each fellow had a long pole and the objective seemed to be to knock the opponent into the water.  There were booths and displays of boaty things and a little steam train.  Eventually several boats in the river departed and we waited for a bit in hopes that they would return in formation or something, but nothing happened, so we returned to the car and continued our journey home.
